Loferski, Roman John (4 April 1924 - 14 June 2010) With Flag

 

Roman J. Loferski, age 86, of Thorp, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen.

 

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Thorp Funeral Home in Thorp, with Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating.  Visitation was held on Monday at Thorp Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.  Burial followed in St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers were: Richard Kotecki, Dale Lee, Edward Orzechowski, Jessy Kotecki, Chad Hauser, and Bernie Burzynski.

 

Roman John Loferski was born on April 4, 1924 in Chicago, IL, to John and Stella (Filopowicz) Loferski.  He received his education at Chicago area schools and graduated from Harrison Tech High School. After completing his education, Roman enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country for two years, eight months, and 22 days.  After his discharge from the U. S. Navy, Roman worked for International Harvester for over 40 years until his retirement in 1978.  He then moved to his home in the Town of Withee, rural Thorp, where he resided until his death.

 

In his spare time, Roman enjoyed going to Canterbury Downs in Shakopee, MN to watch the horse races.  He also enjoyed going to casinos and listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio.

 

Roman is survived by several distant cousins, and his close friends, Bernie and Darlene Burzynski of Thorp.

 

He was preceded in death by: his parents, and one brother, Chester Loferski.
