Michael Dmytro, 89, of Thorp, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.  He was born on August 13, 1920, in Cicero, IL, the son of the late Theodore and Pauline (Makitra) Dmytro.  Mike and his family moved to the Lublin area when he was a young man. He farmed with his family and worked at the CCC camps before WWII.  At that time he entered the Navy and served our country in many battles in the Pacific.  Mike stayed in the Navy for 20 years and then worked at the Great Lakes Naval Station in Waukegan, IL until his retirement.  At that time he moved back to Thorp and has lived there since.  The last five years he’s been a resident of Oakbrook Health & Rehab.

Mike is survived by his brother, Bill (Cecelia) Dmytro, of Lublin; seven nephews: Howard (Nancy) Dmytro of new Hampshire, Michael and Geno Dmytro both of Chicago, IL, Dan (Elizabeth) Webster and Thomas Webster both of Albuquerque, NM, Robert Dmytro of Watertown and David (Lisa) Dmytro of Wausau; and one sister-in-law, Alice Dmytro of Thorp.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: John, Walter, Leo and Peter; his sister Webster; and two nephews: Dan and Jeff Dmytro.

Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Holy Assumption Russian Orthodox Church in Lublin.  Father Theodore Wojcik officiated.  Burial followed in the Church Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Thorp American Legion Post #118, of which he was a proud member.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the Church. The Plombon Funeral Home, Stanley assisted the family with arrangements.
