Funeral services were held July 7th for Mrs. Tobias Thorson, nee Helen Bertha Erickson, at the First Congregation Church, Owen, with interment was made at Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Thorson, age 86, passed away at six-thirty o’clock in the morning on the 5th of July, complication of old age being the cause of her death.  She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Herbert Haire of Withee.

Pallbearers were Russell, James and Jerry Lee Haire, Dr. Allen Pacholka, Joe Rogers and Ronald Albert.

Mrs. Thorson was born April 27th, 1871, in the Town of Clayton, Wis. in Winnebago County.  On the 29th of October, 1890, she married Tobias Thorson at a ceremony performed at Neenah.  To this union nine daughters and one son were born.  One daughter and the son died in infancy.

Mr. and Mrs. Thorson made their home in Winnebago County until 1905 when they moved to Clark County and made their home on a farm located two and one-half miles south of Withee.  She was a member of the Lutheran Church at Longwood for about 35 years.  In the year of 1941 she moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) and made her home with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Grimes.  At this time she transferred her membership to the Congregational Church where she was still affiliated at the time of her death.  "Grandma" Thorson was a faithful member of the Longwood Garden Club.

Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Lil) Haire, Mrs. Edgar (Julia) Albert of Withee; Mrs. Roland (Nell) Haire, Mrs. Ella Snyder, Mrs. Lucius (Edna) Bowen and Mrs. S. E. (Mildred) Grimes, all of Owen; Bess and Sadie Thorson of Minneapolis, Minn.; eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews besides a multitude of very dear friends and neighbors.

Preceding her in death are her husband who died in 1934 and an infant son and daughter.
