Maisie Powers Johnson passed away at Luther Hopsital in Eau Claire at 6 p.m. Monday, April 1st, 1957.  She was taken to the hospital in the city ambulance last Friday when she became seriously ill at her home.  She had been in failing health for the past several months and had been hospitalized frequently.

She was born in Dunn Co., Wis. on Sept. 7, 1881, and came to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) from Menomonie in 1908.  Four years later she was united in marriage to Julius Johnson and the couple have made their home here ever since.

Mrs. Johnson was a gentle understanding woman who had served this community as librarian for more than 25 years, retiring reluctantly only several weeks ago when her health began to fall rapidly.  Through these many years she acquired a host of friend, especially among the young people with whom she worked in the school library.

Mourning her death are her husband and one son William; two brothers, R. C. Powers of Florida and Elvin of Owen; one sister, Mrs. T. J. Hass of Florida, and three grandchildren,   A son, Orin, preceded her in death, passing away in 1944.
