Newell L. Strack, 79, Loyal and Stratford, died on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, at Zion United Methodist Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Mike Carlson officiated. Jean Roehrborn was the organist, along with congregational singing. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Helm, Greg Klos, Bob Trimble, Emery Hanson, Lary Rueth and Jim Strack. Honorary pallbearers were Myron Freund and Joel Strack.
 
Newell L. Strack was born on Oct. 21, 1930, in the town of Lincoln, Wood County, to Louis and Olga (nee Maske) Strack. He attended Lone Elm School, Hewitt Public School, Willard D. Purdy and graduated from Marshfield Senior High School. He married Irene C. Schroeder on Oct. 31, 1953, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, March Rapids. She died on Sept, 8, 2002.
 
He was employed at Montgomery Ward and various grocery stores such as South Parkway, Kollers, Schulte’s IGA, Spencer Foods and Hanke’s Super Market, Tomahawk. In 1964, he shared ownership in Loyal Foods with Arnold Brock, but retired in 1969 due to ill health. He then was a salesman on the road for 33 years selling advertising specialties. He and his wife spent 23 winters in Texas and resided in Stratford and Loyal with their daughter, Kathy, and her family. He enjoyed woodworking, music, fishing and going to his granddaughters’ sporting events.
 
Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Greg) Klos, Wausau, and Kathy (Bob) Trimble, Loyal; three granddaughters, Jennifer Trimble and Katie Trimble, Loyal, and Mirinda Klos, Wausau; a brother, Jerome (Donna) Strsck, Wisconsin Rapids; and a special friend, Betty Staven, Marshfield.
 
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Lilas Freund, and a brother, Loyal Strack.
 
Memorials may be given to the Marshfield Medical and Research Foundation for pulmonary research.

Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, assisted the family with arrangements.
