GREENWOOD -- Elmer Everett Humke, 86, of Greenwood passed away Monday, May 17, 2010, at Marshfield Care Center.

He was born July 26, 1923, in Greenwood, son of Art and Laura (Noah) Humke. He attended Decker Elementary School and Greenwood High School. Elmer was united in marriage to Elvera Reineking-Fravert on Dec. 16, 1972, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Greenwood. She preceded him in death Feb. 10, 1995.

Elmer was a lifetime member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Greenwood and a member of the Men's Chorus. He loved hunting, woodworking, gardening and making wine, horse pulling, polka dancing and old-time music. For many years, he farmed and owned feed mills in Longwood and Curtis and was also an auctioneer.

Elmer is survived by his son, Mark (Debbie) Fravert, Schofield; daughters, Margaret (Juan) Geracaris, Greenwood, and Marilyn (Bob) Zettler, Onalaska; five grandchildren, Juan (Danielle) Geracaris Jr., Garrett and Claire Fravert and Lynzi and David Zettler; brother, Eldore (Alice) Humke; sisters, Loriena Lindner and Bernelda Liebzeit; brother-in-law, Norman (Sophie) Reineking; sister-in-law, Dotty (Dale) Vollrath; nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Greenwood, with the Rev. Mark Schwinn officiating. Burial will be in West Side Cemetery in Greenwood. Friends may call from noon until the time of services at the church.
