Corzett, Addelaide (23 MAR 1859- 10 AUG 1947)

 

Mrs. Addelaide Corzett passed away at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at the home of her daughter, Ms. Guy Jones, in Waukegan, Ill. She had gone to reside with her daughter in May, 1947.

 

Funeral rites for Mrs. Corzett were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, in the Melvin funeral home by the Rev. Harry E. Shiffer of Rock Falls (Ill.) Christian church, Mrs. Shiffer and Mrs. Leonard Skaggs sang two hymns,"Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "Going Down the Valley." Mrs. J. H. Linn was organist. Burial was in the Rock Falls Odd Fellows cemetery.

 

Pall bearers were grandsons of the deceased: David Jones, Edward Austin, Wallace Jones, Charles Potts, Asa Fox, and Austin Corzett. Flowers were in charge of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Itnyre and Mrs. Harry Arnold.

 

Addelaide Mack, the first white child born here, was the daughter of Erastus and Maria H. Mack. She was born on Mar. 23, 1859, and was married to John Corzett. In 1901 they moved, with their family, to a farm in Shady Glen. Later they owned a home in Sechlerville, and Mr. Corzett carried mail between Hixton and Sechlerville. In 1931, they moved to Sterling, Ill., where some of their children were residents.

 

For the past 10 years Mrs. Florence Fox has been with her mother, but this spring her own health failed, and in May Mrs. Corzett went to the home of another daughter, Mrs. Jones, where she was cared for until her death.

 

Mrs. Corzett was an active member of the Sechlerville Methodist church, of which she was a member, when her health permitted.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband in December, 1935, and a son, Herbert, died a number of years ago. She is survived by three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Florence Fox, and Mrs. Iva Jones of Waukegan, and Mrs. Pearl Mitchell of Sterling, Eugene Corzett of Tamico, Ill, and Dale Corzett of Malvern, Ill. She also leaves 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
