Poznanski, Delores (7 APR 1956)

Before he leaves for service with the U.S. Army, Francis A. Brey and his bride, the former Delores Ann Poznanski, are spending their honeymoon in southern Wisconsin.

The couple were married by Rev. Edward Hartung in a 9:30 a.m. ceremony Saturday, April 7th, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood.  Both families are Greenwood residents, the bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Alex Poznanski, and the bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brey.

Preceded down the aisle by a corps of adult attendants dressed in mint green, the bride appeared in a chapel length dress of lace and tulle over satin.  The fitted lace bodice was etched with crystal bead and seed pearls, and featured an Elizabethan collar.  Heart shaped detailing marked the overskirt worn over pleated tulle.  A shell hat of lace, etched with beads and pearls to match the dress, held her illusion veil.

A white orchid centered the crescent of pink hyacinths which she carried.

Flowers for her attendants were crescents of carnations on white braid wedding rings.  Yellow carnations were used in the arrangement carried by the maid of honor, Miss Dolores Poznanski of Milwaukee, a cousin of the bride, and pink carnations were in the arrangements of the bridesmaids, the bridegroom’s sister, Miss Jean Brey of Greenwood; Miss Betty Lou Machtan of Chicago, cousin to the bride, and Miss Pearl Erdman of Wausau.

Their floo lenth dresses were designed with a cuffed off the shoulder neckline and bow at the back, and elongated torso lines over full gathered skirts.  Half hats of Swiss braid with nose veils completed their outfits.

As flower girl, Sharon Glenzer of Curtiss wore white tulle over taffeta with the tulle draped around the neckline and caught with forget me nots around the hemline.  A tulle headdress was worn and a basket of yellow and pink rosebuds was carried by the flower girl, a cousin of the bride.

Art Brey of Christie, the bridegroom’s nephew, was the other young member of the bridal party.

Attending Mr. Brey as best man was his brother, Danny Brey of Thorp.  Two cousins, Donald binder of Milwaukee and Warren Joosten of Rudolph, and John Suda, Greenwood, were groomsmen.

Ushering duties were executed by Donald Poznanski of Milwaukee, the bride’s cousin, and Francis Kohlnhofer, Greenwood.

Breakfast was served to the wedding party by the bridegroom’s parents.  Ninety guests were present at St. Mary’s Hall, and a reception and dance at the Neillsville American Legion Hall concluded the festivities.

Out of town guests were from Athens, Colby, Merrimac, Withee, Owen, Marshfield, Milwaukee, Thorp, Wausau, Chicago, Curtiss, Loyal and Christie.

Mr. and Mrs. Brey attended Greenwood schools.  The bride has been employed at Griebenow Hardware in Owen, and her husband was engaged in farming in the Greenwood area.  He will report for army duty on April 24.
