Roehl, Stella (14 JULY 1888-24 MAY 1947)

 

Mrs. Otto Roehl, 58, died Saturday noon, May 24, at Colonial hospital in Rochester, Minn. She had been a patient there for two weeks.

 

Stella Mae Roehl, the daughter of Lincoln and Hattie Covey, was born in Pittsville on July 14, 1888. In 1904 the family moved to Loyal. Here she grew to womanhood. She received her education in the schools here and graduated from the Loyal high school in 1909.

 

Following her graduation, she served as a saleslady in the B. W. Colby store.

 

She was married to Otto Roehl in Loyal on Sept. 6, 1911. Following this marriage, they made their home on a farm in the town of Eaton. This remained her home until her death.

 

Funeral services were held at the Loyal Methodist church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, following a 1 o’clock service at the home. The Rev. Lee H. Holmes was in charge of the services. Raymond Colby, Mrs. Calvin Prior and James Colby sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "The Old Rugged Cross." They were accompanied by Mrs. Arnold Wicklund.

 

Officers of the Royal Neighbors society presented their funeral ceremony for the departed member.

 

Pallbearers were Robert Wehling, Vera Kauffman, Herbert White, Lige Niman, Walter Nichols and James McConnell. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Robert Wehling, Mrs. Herbert Schendel, Mrs. Gilbert Rhode, Mae Johnson, Irene Schendel, Mrs. John Bertz and Mrs. Joe Rondorf.

 

Mrs. Roehl is survived by her husband; her father, A. L. Covey, who resided with her; three brothers, Lee Covey of Port Edwards, Marvin Covey of Lodi, and Glen covey of Pittsville. Her mother died in 1917.

 

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Glen Covey, Mr. and Mrs.  Frank Minor, Mr. and Mrs. George Dibble, Mrs. Cliff Gardener, Mrs. John Theden and Mrs. Ernest Dawes, all of Pittsville; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard McCoy of Cameron, Mr. and Mrs. William Morrison of Berlin, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Covey and family of Port Edwards, Marvin Covey of Lodi, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Sabota of Wisconsin Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Galloway, Mrs. Sadie Galloway, Edd Dawes, Joe Litterno and Raymond Litterno, all of Fond du Lac, Miss Verna Kramer of Janesville, Mrs. Gusta Roehl, Miss Luella Roehl, Arthur Roehl and Emil Albrecht of Lake Mills, Mrs. Anna Harnack of Fort Atkinson, Mrs. Ida Kort of New London, Mr. and Mrs. Will Holzhueter and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Holzhueter of Deerfield, Gertie Holzhueter of Marshall, Walter Nichols and Mrs. Herb Roth of Mauston, and Mr. and Mrs. Will Smith and daughter of Milton Junction.

 

The Tribune extends to the bereaved its sympathy in the loss of a beloved relative.
