Bart, Ronald (23 NOV 1948 - 13 JUN 1955)

A vacation trip was marred by the tragic drowning of six year old Ronald Eugene Bart, son of former Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) residents, Mr. and Mrs. William Barn of Munising, Mich.  The mishap occurred at 7 o’clock Monday morning at the resort of Ronald’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Bart, on Rest Lake near Manitowish, Wis.

Ronald had gone down to the dock to fish before breakfast and had just been in the house displaying a catch of four perch.  When told breakfast was ready he said, "Wait, I have to check my bait," and ran off to the dock.  It is believed that in his excitement he ran right off the end of the dock into eight feet of water.

Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at the Community Church at Manitowish Waters by Rev. R. E. Ortmayer of Chippewa Falls, with burial being made in the Manitowish Waters Cemetery.

Mauel, Sr., and Mrs. Henry Anderson, city; Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Balow, and Mrs. Elmer Jensen, Abbotsford; Mrs. Floyd Buchanan, Curtiss; Virginia Nyysti, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Paff and daughter of Neenah; Philip Nyyitl, Milwaukee; and James Bart of the United States Navy and currently stationed at Norfolk, Va.
