West, Janice (Marriage - 8 June 1957)

On Saturday, June 8, at the Zion Evangelical and Lutheran Church at Granton, Miss Janice West, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James West of Neillsville, Rt. 1, became the bride of Alan Voigt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gust Voigt of Loyal, Rt. 1.  The Rev. Alfred Schewe of Neillsville performed the double ring ceremony at 2:30 before an altar banked with baskets of garden flowers.

As the bride approached the altar on the arm of her father, she wore a floor-length rose point lace and nylon tulle dress.  The bodice was tight fitting, with a sweetheart neckline outlined with natural scallops.  Short sleeves were complimented with lace mitts.  A finger tip veil of sheer illusion that extended to the elbow fell from a crown headpiece. She carried a shower bouquet of pink roses and lily of the valley.

Miss Sylvia West, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor; and Mrs. James Voigt of Loyal was bridesmaid.  Bettie and Bonnie Hughes, Karen Fox, and Carol Sue West were junior bridesmaids.  All attendants wore blue net dresses identical to that of the bride, with matching picture hats.  They carried white garden baskets of pink, blue and white daisies.

Attending the groom as best man was James Voigt of Loyal, and Ray Oestrich was groomsman.  Ushers were Laurence Bartz and Eugene Lucht.

Completing the wedding party was Kirk Klemme as ring bearer, and Kathryn Haase as flower girl.

"The Lord’s Prayer" and "O Perfect Love" were sung by Bettie and Bonnie Hughes, accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Pannier at the organ.

A reception was held for 200 guests at the home of the bride’s parents following the ceremony.

The bride is a graduate of Neillsville High School and Stout State College, with a degree in home economics.  She has been teaching at the Lincoln High School in Alma Center. The groom is a graduate of the Loyal High School and is engaged in the trucking business.

On their return from a wedding trip to the eastern states, including Niagara Falls and part of Canada, they will be at home on the farm they purchased from the bride’s parents.

Those from out of town attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Glen Klex, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Rosentock and family, Mrs. Wayne Kesti and Dennis, Miss Iva Smith and Don Hannef, all of Milwaukee; Miss Edith Iwen, Port Washington; Mrs. Elsbeth Wahlen, Madison; Dawn Johnson, Sister Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Fox and family, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Stang, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Haase and family, Neenah; Dr. and Mrs. Otto Klemme and family, Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Herbert, Spencer.
