Dranginis, Elizabeth (20 OCT 1955)

A very pretty wedding took place at St. Hedwig’s Chapel at 10:00 o’clock on Thursday morning, Oct. 20th, 1955, when Miss Elizabeth Dranginis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Dranginis, became the bride of Mr. Steven A. Dus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Dus, all of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).  The double ring ceremony was performed by Father Francis Piekarski, pastor of St. Hedwig’s.

The couple was attended by Miss Dorothy Dranginis, sister of the bride, as maid of honor, and Raymond Dranginis of Milwaukee, brother of the bride, as best man.  Stanley Sniegowski and Henry Coates served as ushers.  The bride was given in marriage by her father.

The bride was beautifully attired in a gown of lace and nylon over satin, styled with a Chantilly lace bodice with long pointed sleeves and a sweetheart neckline.

The skirt was designed with inset lace panels in front and the back formed into cascade of lace ruffles to the skirt’s hemline.  A princess tiara of iridescent sequins and pearls topped a ballerina length veil of French illusion with an edging of rose point lace.  She wore the groom’s gift, a wrist watch set with diamonds and carried a colonial bouquet of pink roses and white pompom chrysanthemums.

The maid of honor wore a shrimp pink floor length formal of nylon lace and net over taffeta styled with a strapless bodice and bolero with a small rolled collar.  The bouffant skirt was composed of layers of net detailed with alternate ruffles of lace and net.  Her matching headband was of hairbraid and velvet.  She also wore a god locket and chain, a gift of the bride, and carried white and yellow chrysanthemums.

Both the bride’s mother and the groom’s mother wore dresses of aqua blue and corsages of Pinocchio roses.

Dinner for the immediate families of the couple was served at Club 73, and supper was served there also at 8:30 in the evening.  A wedding dance was held at the St. Hedwig’s Quonset Ballroom at Thorp.  Guests present for the occasion were from Gilman, Lublin, Cameron, Wis., and Chicago.

The bride is a graduate of Thorp High School and has been employed as bookkeeper by the Nation Presto Industries.  The groom graduated from the Gilman High School and is owner and operator of the Thorp flour and Feed Mill in Thorp.

The bride was wearing a brown knit dress with pink accessories and an orchid corsage when the couple left on their honeymoon to the Black Hill of South Dakota, and on their return will make their home in Thorp.
