Freund, Katherine Helen (18 August 1886 - 24 September 1956) 
 

Mrs. Nick Freund, 70, of 1206 O’Neill Street, Neillsville, died Monday Morning at her home following a heart attack. 
 

Katherine Helen Gerhartz, daughter of the late Joseph and Susan (Heimer) Gerhartz, was born Augusta 18, 1886, at Stacyville, Ia.  She attended parochial school there and on January 22, 1907 was married to Nicholas Freund at Meyer, Ia.  They farmed in Iowa until 1916, when they came to Wisconsin and settled on a farm near Bakerville.  They lived there until 1946, when they moved to Neillsville, where they have since resided. 
 

Mrs. Freund was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Christian Mother’s Society, and a member of St. Jude’s Circle. 
 

She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Martin (Susan) Feuerstein, Neillsville; Mrs. Ray (Mathilda) Burr, Neillsville; Edwin Freund, Neillsville; and Walter Freund of Marshfield; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Matt Gerhartz, Adams, Minn.; William Gerhartz, McIntyre, Iowa; and Mrs. Joseph (Christine) Winkles of LeRoy, Minn., and Mrs. Fred (Tillie) Blake of McIntyre, Iowa. 
 

A requiem high mass was read this (Thursday) Morning at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. John J. Novak officiating. Interment took place in the Catholic Cemetery at Bakerville. 
 

The Christian Mother’s Society said a rosary Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Bergemann Funeral Home, where the body reposed. A general rosary was said Wednesday evening.
