(12 January 1897 - 13 September 1956)

Word has been received here of the death September 13 in Chicago of Nathaniel J. Machel, 59, a native of the Town of Washburn.  He suffered a heart attack as he began his daily work for Western Electric Company, by whom he has been employed for 18 years.

Born on a farm in the Town of Washburn on January 12, 1897, Mr. Machel resided there until 1916, when he moved to Chicago.  Shortly thereafter he joined the army and served during World War I and was with the army of occupation until it was withdrawn.

He was married November 29, 1922, to Adeline Krause in Chicago.  One daughter was born to them.  Surviving besides his widow and daughter are three sisters and three brothers: Amelia McCarthy, Lydia Drescher, Amanda, Albert, Robert and William.

Mr. Machel was a member of the Lutheran church, from which funeral services were conducted.  Burial was made in Ridgewood Cemetery.
