Coulthard, John Ralph (22 February 1872 - 28 August 1955) 
 

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Sherwood community Church for John Ralph Coulthard, age 83, of R 1, Pittsville, who died August 28, at the Memorial Hospital.  He had been receiving treatment for a heart condition. 
 

The Rev. Mr. Sommers of Black River Falls officiated. Interment was in the Town of Sherwood Cemetery. 
 

Mr. Coulthard was born February 22, 1872, at Elk Grove, Wis., to John and Dianna (Peacock) Coulthard.  His elementary education was received in the schools of LaFayette County.  On December 14, 1896, he was married to Josephine Hill at Argyle, Wis.  Following their marriage they resided near Darlington and in 1902 they moved to their farm in the Town of Sherwood, where they lived since.  At one time he served as town chairman.  He had been a patient at the hospital for about a week. 
 

He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Etta Jaeger, Appleton; Mrs. Margie Georgia, St. Charles, Ill.; Mrs. Betty Hoeffel, Appleton; Louis of Mineral Point; Milo of Shullsburg; Mrs. Virgie Yunger, Reesburg, Fla.; Robert of Maple Park, Ill.; Homer of Appleton; Neal of Pittsville, and Leo of Wisconsin Rapids; 41 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister. A daughter, one brother and three sisters preceded him in death. 
 

The body reposed at the Bergemann Funeral Home until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at which time it was taken to the church in Sherwood, where it reposed from noon until time of services.
