Charles, Beatrice Marie (9 May 1874 - 28 February 1955) 
 

Mrs. Beatrice Marie Charles, age 80, lately of Kissimmee, Fla., died Monday, February 28, 1955, at a hospital in Kissimmee.  The body arrived in Neillsville on the following Thursday.  Funeral services were conducted March 4, 1955, from the Georgas Funeral home. The Rev. Frank B. Harcey officiated.  Interment took place in the Neillsville City Cemetery.  
 

Mrs. Charles was born May 9, 1874, at Neillsville to Ole and Hanna (Peterson) Hanson.  She received her education and grew to womanhood in Neillsville.  Nearly all her life was spent here.  Following her marriage to John C. Charles on December 21, 1892, at Neillsville, they moved to a farm in the Town of Pine Valley.  There they farmed until 1907, when a tornado leveled their farm home.  They then moved to a home on Center Street in Neillsville.  Two years later they moved back to the farm after rebuilding.  They continued to farm for four more years and then moved back to their home in town. 
 

Mr. Charles preceded her in death on July 4, 1939.  She left Neillsville nine years ago to keep house for her brother in Florida.  He died seven years ago, but she continued to make her home in the south, although she looked upon Neillsville as her real home.  In the nine years of her residence in the south she made 24 trips to Neillsville. 
 

Mrs. Charles was a member of the Neillsville Congregational Church and the Diamond Rebekah Lodge No. 64. 
 

Surviving her are one sister, Mrs. Olive Hartwell, Princeton, Wis., and one brother, Haken Hanson of Winneconne, Wis. 
 

Pallbearers were: William Campman, William Hughes, Charles Poole, Edward Kutchera, Herman North and Sidney Patey. 
 

Mrs. B. H. Crissinger and Mrs. Robert Peters sang two selections accompanied by Mrs. Jess Scott at the organ.  
 

Close relatives from out of town attending the rites were: Mrs. Albert (Olive) Hartwell, Princeton; Mrs. Haken Hanson, Winneconne; M. A. Hartwell, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Robert McConnell, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Sather, Mrs. Martin Quast and Mrs. Annie Dyre, all of Greenwood.
