Berlin, Julius Kurth (9 December 1909 - 9 January 1955) 
 

Julius Kurth Berlin, age 45, died January 9, 1955, at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital at Oakland, Cal., following a lingering illness. 
 

Funeral services were held at the Phillip Neris Catholic Church on January 12. Rev. Fr. O’Connor officiated.  He was given a military funeral with burial in the Golden Gate Cemetery at San Bruno, Cal. 
 

Julius was the son of the late Fred Kurth and Mrs. Martin Hauge.  He was born December 9, 1909, in Neillsville and at the death of his father went to California to make his home with his aunt, Mrs. Bertha Berlin Logan, who later adopted him.  At the age of 16 he returned to Neillsville and was graduated from the Neillsville High School.  He again returned to California, joined the U. S. Marines and served with them for eight years in China.  After receiving his discharge from the service he came back to Neillsville and for a few years worked for the Model Laundry.  Then he went to St. Paul, where he was married to Lucille Lambert, who, with his their five children, survive him.  Five years ago he and his family moved back to California.  He was employed as a mail carrier for the Radiation Laboratory at the University of California at Berkley at the time of his death. 
 

Besides his wife and five children he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Martin Hauge, who has been in California the past few months helping care for him; his foster mother, Mrs. Bertha Logan; three brothers, Douglas Kurth of Chicago, Walter Kurth, Stockton, Cal., Herbert Kurth of Neillsville, and one sister, Mrs. Arthur Ampe of Madison.
