Teclaw, Leon #2 (11 MAR 1927 - 1 JUN 1955)

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Francis Piekarski at St. Hedwig’s Church ere at ten o’clock Saturday morning June 4^th for Leon Teclaw, 28, who passed away at the Stanley Hospital on Wednesday, June 1^st, 1955.  Death was caused by leukemia from which he had been suffering for the past year.

Leon Louis Teclaw was born in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) on March 11, 1927, the son of Mike and Verna Teclaw, both living.  He attended the local schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps on Dec. 6, 1945, serving about two years in the army of occupation in Germany.  He was discharged Nov. 24, 1948.

He was united in marriage on June 9, 1951 to Pearl Straszkowski at St. Mary’s Church, Junction.  Previous to being taken ill he was employed at Schlitz Brewery at Milwaukee.

Besides his wife and parents, he leaves to mourn his untimely demise, one son, Kenneth and one daughter, Kathleen;; seven brothers, Alois of Oshkosh, Marion of Iowa, Raymond of Minneapolis, Malen, Richard, Norbert and David of Thorp; three sisters, Angeline Teclaw of Chicago, Mrs. Leon Kaczmarek of Thorp and Mrs. Leonard Szymanski of Owen.

An escort of members of Cecil Tormey Post No. 118 of the American Legion accompanied the remains to the grave in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery where military honors were accorded.  Pallbearers were Ray Giwojna, Ray Kobylarczyk, Henry Nowobielski, Erwin Klick, Leonard Jaskot and Erwin Bieno.

Relatives and friends from out of town attending the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. Victor Herman and son, Mrs. Leonard Milewski, Mrs. Edward Strzok, Edward Neiman, Mrs. Zig Matusek, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Matusek, Mrs. Chester Wisz and Martin Teclaw of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Ratburg, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Winiecki, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Winiecki and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Trych of Minneapolis, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Briski of Greenwood.
