Werner, Matt (1881? - 2 June 1958)

Matt Werner, 77, who lived in a trailer house in Abbotsford, died Monday afternoon of burns suffered in a gas stove explosion early Saturday morning.

Werner was preparing his breakfast when the stove exploded. He suffered second and third degree burns to his head, hands and arms. He managed to escape from the trailer, which caught fire, and aroused a neighbor who took him to a doctor. He was later taken to St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, where he died.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 this afternoon at the Zink Funeral Home. The Rev. Lawrence Faivre of the Presbyterian church will conduct the rites and burial will be made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

Mr. Werner is survived by an adopted son, Leonard, Waupun, and a brother who lives at Green Bay. His wife preceded him in death in 1953.
