Hoffman, Charles W. (24 May 1874 - 21 May 1958) 
 

Charles W. Hoffman, 83, died Wednesday morning at 9:30 at his home. Although in poor health the past year and a half, death came unexpectedly. The body will lie in state at the Zink Funeral Home, starting this evening. Funeral services will be conducted there Saturday at 2:00 o’clock by the Rev. Lawrence E. Faivre. There will also be Masonic rites. Internment will be made in the Abbotsford cemetery on his 84^th birthday anniversary. 
 

Charles W. Hoffman was born in the town of Eau Pleine, May 24, 1874. When a boy, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hoffman, moved to Knowlton, where they operated a farm. On Nov. 18, 1902, he was united in marriage to Miss De Etta Hibbard. 
 

After their marriage they lived at Stevens Point where he was a mill wright. On April 22, 1912, they came to Abbotsford and Mr. Hoffman and A. J. Young started a lumber yard and operated a saw mill on the site now used as the village dumping ground. The saw mill burned but Mr. Hoffman continued in the lumber business for 22 years. His health began to fail and he sold it to John Sands. 
 

Mr. Hoffman was active in village affairs. He served as village president for five years, was trustee for several years and was treasurer for two years. He was the Clark county supervisor for Abbotsford for 11 years. He also was president of the Commercial Club, which later became the Chamber of Commerce. 
 

He had membership at the time of his death, in the Abbotsford lodge of the Masons, the chapter at Medford, the consistory of Eau Claire, the Eastern Star of Abbotsford and the White Shrine, of Wausau. He was a past master of the Abbotsford lodge, a past patron of the Eastern Star and past watchman of the Shepherds of the White Shrine of Wausau. 
 

Surviving him are his widow and four nieces. An only son, Harold, preceded him in death July 3, 1936. Five sisters also preceded him in death.

The Rev. Lawrence Faivre, of the Presbyterian church conducted services Saturday afternoon for Charles W. Hoffman, who died at his home Wednesday. Mrs. Myron Greaser sang "Beyond the Sunset," and "In the Garden," at the services held at the Zink Funeral Home. 
 

Masonic rites were also held and the members of the Eastern Star and Royal Neighbors carried floral tributes. 
 

Pallbearers for the internment, made in the Abbotsford cemetery, were Walter Danielson, Walter Fults, Vern Hemphill, John Hutt, Harry Ketcham and Walter Kuenzi. 
 

Relatives and friends came from Milwaukee, Superior, Wausau, Wisconsin Rapids, Medford, Owen, and Colby.
