Jordan, Betty (Marriage - 16 November 1954)

Before an altar adorned with white asters and white chrysanthemums Miss Betty Jordan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Jordan of Willard, became the bride of Bernard Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schmidt of Loyal, in a double ring ceremony performed on November 16 in the Holy Family Catholic Church at Willard.  The couple repeated their vows before the Rev. Fr. Augustine Svete, O. F. M.  A nuptial low mass with William Jordan, brother of the bride and Michael Plautz serving, followed the 10 o’clock marriage rites.

The bride, who was escorted to the altar by her father, was lovely in a floor length traditional gown of white, which featured nylon lace over white taffeta. The hoop skirt of her bridal gown was very effective.  The same style lace was repeated in the princess fitted bodice with a v-shaped neck line and with a Queen Anne collar. The long sleeves terminated in points below the wrists. The bride’s fingertip veil of sheer illusion was edged with lace and attached to a tiara crown trimmed with seed pearls.

The floral arrangement she carried accented her entire ensemble.  White baby chrysanthemums and tiny red roses on a background of white net, which composed her bouquet, added a note of contrast to the bridal apparel.  She also carried a white rosary.  A gold heat-shaped locket with matching bracelet, a gift from the groom, and long rhinestone earrings completed her attire.

Four bridal aides preceded the bride down the aisle to the strains of a wedding march played by Mrs. Evelyn Seliskar.  Coming from St. Paul, Minn., was Miss Lorrain Jordan, the bride’s only sister, who was maid of honor.  Other attendants were Miss Phyllis Seliskar of Lake Forest, Ill., Miss Marie Andrle of St. Paul, Minn. and Miss Theresa Krapf of Greenwood - all friends of the bride.

Robert Schmidt of Janesville, brother of the groom, served as best man.  The groomsmen were George Lauer of Stanley, cousin of the bride and Rudy Jordan of Willard, a brother of the bride, and Edward Zorman of Willard, a friend of the bride and groom.

Before the ceremony the bride carried a bouquet of white asters to the side altar of the Blessed Virgin.  The groom went to the opposite side altar, where the nativity scene was displayed.

Following the ceremony, immediate relatives and friends assembled at the Silver Dome Supper Club, where dinner was served to approximately 110.  The hall, which was decorated with blue and white streamers, was also the scene of the supper.  A round wedding cake of three tiers, which was placed on the bride’s table, was surrounded with white chrysanthemums and trimmed with white icing and pink and blue rosettes; on top was a miniature bride and groom.  On the tables were placed vases of white asters and mums.

During the afternoon music was furnished by Marden’s orchestra.

The day’s festivities were climaxed with a dance in the evening when music was then furnished by the Wisconsin Kings.

The bride has been employed by the St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Co. at St. Paul.  The groom is farming.

After a short honeymoon in the west the newlyweds plan to live on a farm near Loyal.
