Hodawanic, Mary (? - 6 Nov 1954)

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Hodawanic of Huron were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 o’clock at St. John’s Orthodox Church in Huron, with Rev. Michael Chervinsky officiating.  Interment was in the church cemetery. Grandsons acted as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hodawanic died Saturday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a few days illness.  She came to the United States with her brother, George Bobish, in 1904, from the Old country.  They went directly to Huron.  In 1905 she was married to Frank Hodawanic and they cleared and made a farm in that community where she had since resided.  Her husband preceded her in death in 1950, as did three children, Frank, Mrs. Evelyn Mahalka, and an infant.

Surviving are seven children, Mrs. Catherine Leje of Huron; Mrs. Anna Jean Petschow, Chicago Mrs. Grace McLeod, Waupun; Mrs. Irene Hurt, Bloomer; Mrs. Marie Doege, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.); Harry and George of Huron; Betty, Paul and Robert at home.  There are 31 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
