Stochek, Joseph S. (3 September 1882 –16 July 1954) 
 

Joseph S. Stochek, 71, 406 E. Sixth Street, Neillsville died Friday July 16, 1954, at the Neillsville hospital, where he was admitted the previous Wednesday. 
 

Funeral services were held Monday, July 19, with a short service at 8:30 a.m. at the Georgas Funeral Home and at 9:00 a.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Peter Leketas officiating.  Burial was  in the church cemetery. 
 

Mr. Stochek, a retired farmer, was born September 3, 1882, in Czechoslovakia and came with his parents to this country when he was nine years old.  The family settled in Chicago, where they lived for a few years before moving to a farm in southern Wisconsin.  In 1913 the family moved to Clark County and settled on a farm in the Town of Sherman near Spencer.  He was married June 17, 1915 to Mary Stancl in Chicago.  Mr. and Mrs. Stochek moved to Neillsville October 1, 1951. 
 

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Mildred) Walter, Granton; three sisters, Mrs. Albert (Helen) Chamberlain, Spencer, Mrs. Henry (Mary) Miller, Marshfield, and Julia of Chicago; two brothers, John of Wausau, and Frank, address unknown; and four grandchildren. 
 

Deceased members of his family are his parents and one sister. 
 

Pallbearers were: Francis Urlaub, Paul Dymers, Joe Hlavac, Joe Urlaub, Milton Reinheinor and Louis Walter. 
 

Folks from out of town attending the services were Rose, Ann and Alice Zdonek, John Stochek, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stancl, Mr. and Mrs. John Marton, Robert Stancl and Eddie Mueller, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Chamberlain, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vanderhoof, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dymers, Mrs. Ed Voelker, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Hull, Mrs. Ione Pickett, Mrs. Albert Tews, Mrs. William Reinheinor, Joe Hlavac, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Reinheinor, Miss Catherine Hlavac, Mrs. Irene Kuszynski, Mrs. Henry Mueller, all of Spencer; Mrs. John Walter, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Walter, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Walter, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Walter, all of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Walter and family, Granton.
