Short, Mrs. Nettie B. (Aug 16, 1911)

This evening (Wednesday) at 8 o’clock will occur the marriage of James E. Hughes and Mrs. Nettie B. Short at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Handke.  The ceremony will be performed in the presence of relatives and close friends only.  Justice Chapman will officiate.  Mr. and Mrs. Hughes will take up their residence on the Hughes farm on the Ridge which Mr. Hughes has rented.

The groom is one of the most pleasant young men of this vicinity.  In his farming operations he has been unusually progressive, combining an energetic and industrious disposition with thought and foresight.  The bride is endowed with just the disposition that makes and retains life-long friends.  Quiet and unassuming in demeanor, she has endeared herself in the hearts of a wide host of friends.  The union of two such kindred spirits as those of Mr. Hughes and Mrs. Short cannot but be a happy, contented, and prosperous one, and their numerous friends will be pleased to learn of the marriage.
