Short, Mrs. John (1856 - July 27, 1911)

Mrs. John Short died at her home at Shortville last Thursday, after an illness of several weeks duration.  She was born in St. Lawrence County, N.Y., in 1856 and came with her parents to LaCrosse in 1869, later removing to Clark County in 1872 where they settled in Sherwood Forest.  In 1874 she was united in marriage to John Short and to this union were born eight children.

Mrs. Short was a most estimable lady who during her life had made her influence for good felt in many ways.  She lived a conscientious, Christian life and the memory of her kind and charitable disposition will live long after her.

Mrs. Short is survived by her husband and four children, Mrs. Fred Wright of El Paso, Texas; Mrs. Austin Toptine of Webaux, Mont.; Edward and Arthur of Shortville.  She is also survived by her father, P.J. McGinnis, sisters Mrs. Emery Bruley, Mrs. John Welsh, Mrs. Louis Jorgenson, Mrs. James Phillips, Miss Agnes McGinnis, Mrs. Jos. Shaffer, Miss Lillian McGinnis, brothers, Frank, P.J., and William.

The funeral was held Monday morning at St. Mary’s Church in this city.
