Kedziora, Sophie (14 SEP 1954)

The Rev. Francis Piekarski officiated at the double ring ceremony which preceded the Solemn High Mass, Tuesday morning, Sept. 14th, 1954, at 10 o’clock in St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Thorp, in which Miss Sophie Kedziora became the bride of Adolph Koltis.

Miss Kedziora was escorted to the altar by her godfather and uncle, Mrs. Sopryck of Chicago.

The bride wore a gown of imported Chantilly lace, tulle and satin, fashioned illusion neckline outlined in sequins and pearls, fitted bodice with long tapering sleeves.  Full lace skirt with tier upon tier of pleated tulle at sides.  Full sweeping lace train over satin.

Imported silk illusion veil with lace edge fell from a coronation crown of bugle beads and brilliants and shadowing over the dress and train.  She carried a bouquet of white roses and stephanotis, with satin streamers and a rosary.  The bride wore a crystal cross, gift from the groom.

The daughter of Mrs. Sophie Kedziora was attended by Mrs. Felix Zukowski, Unity, matron of honor, a close friend of the bride, Miss Mary Kedziora of Chicago, sister of the bride.  Mrs. Zukowski is better remembered here as Miss Frances Florkowski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Florkowski.

Identically styled gowns, both aides wore coral nylon net and taffeta fashioned with strapless bodice with cuffed effect. Trimmed in velvet.  Wide flower ruffles formed the skirt, detailed with leaves of velvet having star dust sprinkled.  A shirred stole of taffeta and net covered the shoulders and a half crown of hair braid trimmed with tiny rose buds was worn in their hair.  Short tapering gloves with double ruffles of nylon net.

They carried bouquets of white pompons and bronze chrysanthemums with matching ribbons.  They wore rhinestone necklaces and earrings to match, a gift of the bride.

Joseph Koltis was best man for his brother.  Both are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Koltis, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), groomsman was John Kedziora, brother of the bride.  The groom and his attendants wore tuxedos of dark trousers and powder blue jackets.  Groom wore white garnet rose bud and his attendants white carnation boutonnieres.  They were presented with gold cufflinks and tie clips, a gift from the groom.

During the solemn part of the ceremony, the bride, assisted by her matron of honor, placed a bouquet of gladiolas and white garnet roses at the Altar of the Blessed Virgin, while the groom prayed at St. Joseph’s Altar.  During this ceremony the choir sang, "On This Day Oh Beautiful Mother."

Bride’s mother viewed her daughter’s marriage attired in wine dress and groom’s mother tea blue.  Both mothers had matching accessories and corsages of red and white garnet roses.  Bride’s godmother, Mrs. Mary Sobiunia of Chicago, attired in navy blue lace dress and corsage of white and red carnations.

Wedding dinner and supper were served to immediate families in the Quonset Ballroom, Thorp, which was decorated with white and coral streamers, fastened with a white bell.  The refreshment table was lovely with garden of flowers, pink, white blue and American beauty asters, red and bronze zinnias, and light yellow marigolds.

The three tier wedding cake was decorated with white roses, hearts and bells.  A miniature bride and groom with doves holding wedding rings adorned the top layer on each side of the wedding cake, two tier cakes, decorated in white adorned with a white trumpet shaped horn, filled with coral roses to match the bridesmaids’ dresses, which was a gift from the bride’s mother to the bridesmaids.

The bride is a graduate of Thorp High School and is employed by the Thorp Finance Corp., Thorp.  The groom served for the U. S. Army in Korea and is employed by the Blue Moon, Inc., Thorp.

After a wedding trip to Black Hills and Yellowstone National Park and southern states, the happy couple will live in Thorp.

Out of town guests were from Antigo, Chicago, Withee, Lublin, Chippewa Falls and Unity.
