Papierniak, JoAnn (28 AUG 1954)

St. Hedwig’s Church was the setting for the wedding of Miss JoAnn Papierniak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Papierniak of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Edward Erickson Sr., of Minneapolis.  The ceremony was performed Aug. 28th, 1954 at an 11 o’clock solemn high Mass with Rev. Francis Piekarski officiating.

An assortment of gladioli and white roses decorated the altar.

Joseph Pabich, uncle of the bride, sang during the ceremony.  He was accompanied by Al Ciolkosz.

The bride, who was escorted to the altar by her father, wore a gown of embroidered nylon tulle and Chantilly lace with four tiers of resulting acetate taffeta.  The bodice draped into a wide shouldered frame neckline and had short sleeves. The accordion pleated skirt extended into a chapel length train.  She wore short kid gloves and her fingertip illusion veil of nylon tulle was held in place by an orange blossom tiara.  She carried a bouquet of white roses.

Miss Kathy Papierniak was her sister’s maid of honor and Misses Delores Anyzeski and Jeanie Erickson served as bridesmaids.  The attendants were all gowned alike in crystal acetate and silk in wedgewood pink, a bow accenting the princess silhouette.  Each carried a bouquet of burgundy and pink roses and wore a crown of myrtle and stephanotis.

Howard Lawson attended the groom as best man.  Robert and Edward Wojtalowicz, cousins of the bride, seated the guests.

The bride’s mother attended the wedding in a wedgewood blue linen dress complemented by a corsage of burgundy and pink roses.  The mother of the groom wore a similar corsage on her peacock blue taffeta.

A wedding breakfast for 100 guests was served in St. Hedwig’s Hall which was decorated with white bells, fastened by burgundy and pink streamers.  Five hundred guests attended the reception in the afternoon.  The refreshment table was lovely with a garden spray of burgundy and pink roses and fresh cut burgundy adorned the top layer.

A brown tweed suit with brown hat and rep piping, red and brown accessories was worn by the bride when the young couple left on a wedding trip to the West Coast.  Mr. and Mrs. Erickson will make their home in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The bride is a graduate of the Thorp High School and the University of Wisconsin.  She has been a stewardess on the Capital Airlines.  The groom was graduated from a Minneapolis high school and attended the University of Minnesota and the Civil Aeronautic School.
