On Saturday morning, June 5th, 1954, at 10 a.m. at St. Hedwig’s Chapel, Ellen Marie Zarada, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zarada of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis., became the bride of Harvey Arreguin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Luz. B. Arreguin of Mexico City, Mexico.  The ceremony was performed by Rev. Francis Piekarski before the altar which was beautifully decorated with white and lavender lilacs and gladiolas.

 

The bride, given in marriage by her father was attired in a white slipper satin, Chantilly lace and nylon tulle gown of chapel length.  Her shoulder length veil was held in place by a crown of orange blossoms.  She wore a pearl necklace and earrings and her bouquet consisted of stephanotis and white roses.

 

Irene Zarada, sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Margie Moczarny, friend of the bride, as bridesmaid, wore chapel length gowns of light green taffeta covered with nylon embroidery.  The pearl necklace and earrings were their gift from the bride.  They carried bouquets of white carnations and lilies of the valley and had headpieces of matching variety of flowers.

 

Edith Louis Zarada, sister of the bride, as flower girl, wore a green taffeta dress similar to the bridesmaid’s and carried a basket of white daisies.

 

Attending the groom were Peter Lukasiewicz, a friend, as best man, and Leon Skaleski, also a friend.

 

The music was furnished by St. Hedwig’s choir and a special solo of "Ave Maria" was sung by Mrs. Leon Kaczmarek.

 

Joseph Moczarny, a friend of the family, was usher at the chapel and Mrs. Moczarny was hostess at the breakfast for the relatives and the dinner at St. Hedwig’s Hall in the evening at 5:00 p.m., which was served by the Sodality for about 160 guests.

 

The hall was decorated in green and white streamers for the occasion and bouquets of white lilacs and tulips adorned the tables.

 

A wedding dance was held in the evening at St. Hedwig’s Hall.

 

Out of town guests attending the wedding were: Paul Arreguin of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. James Petersen and family of Withee; Mrs. Ted Magensen, Withee; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Paulson, Medford; Mrs. Jo Ann Kitzhaber, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Karlen, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Karlen of Boyd.

 

The bride is a graduate of the Thorp High School and also attended Gale Institute and is employed by the Atchison-Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad as teletypist and the groom is a salesman.

 

They will make their home at 3010 North Wilson Ave., Chicago.
