Soderberg, Mr. and Mrs. George (60^th Anniversary - 14 January 1953) 
 

Mr. and Mrs. George Soderberg, longtime residents of Northwest Clark County, are observing their sixtieth anniversary on Wednesday, January 14.  No party was planned for them, but their children, relatives and friends are dropping in on them to extend felicitations. 
 

The Soderbergs have been permanent residents of Clark County for 41 years.  Once residents of Chicago, they had come up here in 1904, had tried it for a few months, and had returned to the big city.  But in 1911 they tried again and made a stay of it. 
 

When they came up in 1911, they brought a small family.  But as the years passed, they contributed to their adopted county four sons and four daughters, living. Two children, twins, died at birth. 
 

Mr. Soderberg is now an invalid, but Mrs. Soderberg in her maturity is intensely active. After reaching the age of 65, she took up art crocheting, in addition to her household duties.  She has crocheted many beautiful pictures, which are displayed in the Soderberg home.  Three, which are framed, are "The Last Supper," which is about 2 ½ feet by 5 feet; "The Lord’s prayer," which is about 3 feet by 5 feet; and "The Crucifixion," which is about 20 inches by 30 inches.  Her largest work on display is "The Declaration of Independence," about 5 feet by 6 feet. 
 

Mr. Soderberg was born in Sweden, January 15, 1868, and will therefore be 85 years of age on Thursday, the day after the wedding anniversary.  Mrs. Soderberg was born in Arendal, Norway, December 5, 1870, and is therefore 82 years of age.  In addition to their eight living children, the George Soderbergs have eight grandsons and eight granddaughters.  They were married in Chicago, in 1893.
