Mengel, Virginia  (30 JULY 1946)

Wearing a rose-colored dressmaker suit, with white accessories and a locket given her by the bridegroom, Miss Virginia Evelyn Mengel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Mengel of Loyal, became the bride of Bernard Howard Severson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Severson of Greenwood, in a nuptial ceremony in the parsonage of Trundhjem Lutheran church at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30. The Rev. M. K. Aaberg officiated.

Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Perkins of Greenwood, brother-in-law and sister of the bride. Mrs. Perkins wore an aqua dress with white accessories and a corsage of pink carnations, daisies and baby’s breath. The bride’s corsage was composed of lilies.

At 7 o’clock supper was served to the immediate relatives and closest friends at the home of the bride’s parents here. The home was decorated with white, blue and pink streamers and garden flowers. A two-tier wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom ornament, centered the table.

Mrs. Severson was graduated from the Loyal high school in 1941 and has been cahier at the R. B. Colby store here for the past 2 ½ years. Her husband served in the army for 38 months, 23 of which were spent in the European theater of operations. He was discharged last November and is now employed as a truck driver by the Western Condensing Co. at Owen. They are living in Greenwood for the present.

The Loyal Tribune extends to the young couple its wishes for happiness.
