Wachholz, Vivian  (04 MAY 1946)

At 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, May 4, Miss Vivian E. Wachholz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Wachholz, formerly of Loyal, and now of Westfield, was united in marriage with Darwin Bertin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bertin of Westfield.

Immanuel Lutheran church, town of Springfield, Westfield, was the scene of the wedding, the Rev. O. L. Messerschmidt officiating. Miss Edith Pockrandt, cousin of the bride, and Miss Verla Buschke sang "Oh, Perfect Love," accompanied at the organ by Gloria Messerschmidt. The wedding march from Lohengrin was played by Myrna Kettler, cousin of the groom.

The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, was attired in a gown of white slipper satin, styled with a net skirt which had a long appliquéd train. The gown featured a sweetheart neckline, long sleeves and a tight bodice that ended in a peplum at the waist. Her fingertip veil was caught by a seeded pearl, orange blossom headdress.. She wore a pearl necklace, a gift of the groom, and carried a colonial bouquet of white roses, button chrysanthemums and lilies of the valley.

Miss Arlene Wachholz, R.N., of Chicago, sister of the bride, as maid of honor wore a blue brocaded taffeta formal, styled with a full net skirt. In her hair she wore a crown of blue flowers with a net shoulder length veil and as jewelry she wore a pearl necklace. She carried a colonial bouquet of white and pink carnations, button chrysanthemums and blue larkspurs.

Evelyn Bertin of Milwaukee, sister of the groom, and Evelyn Wilsmann of Neillsville, friend of the bride, as bridesmaids, wore identical formals of rose brocaded taffeta, styled similar to that worn by the bridesmaid (? bride or maid of honor), with sweetheart necklines and three quarter length sleeves. In her hair, each also wore a crown of blue flowers with a blue net shoulder length veil. For jewelry they wore pearl necklaces. Each carried a colonial bouquet of blue larkspurs, button chrysanthemums and pink and white carnations.

The groom met the bride at the altar, attended by his brother, Rellis Bertin, as best man. Armond Wachholz, brother of the bride and Norbert Pohl, friend of the groom, acted as ushers. White carnation boutonnieres were worn by all of the men except the groom, who wore a white rose boutonniere. The entire group wore brown suits.

After the ceremony, a wedding reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. White, blue and pink streamers and apple blossoms decorated the home. A wedding cake centered with a miniature bride and groom centered the table. Dinner was served at 6 p.m. to approximately 75 guests.

Following the reception, a wedding dance was held at Lakeside Lodge at Hancock.

The bride recently returned home from San Diego, Cal., where she has spent the past five years as an employee of the San Diego Electric Railway Co.

The groom was discharged from the U.S. army in November, after four years service, 14 months of which was spent in the southwest Pacific.

The young couple is making a wedding tour in Milwaukee and Chicago.

To the newlyweds, The Loyal Tribune extends its wishes for happiness.
