Sturtz, Bernadine  (27 APR 1946)

Wearing a blue suit with white accessories and a corsage of roses, Miss Bernadine Sturtz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sturtz Sr. of Loyal, became the bride of Norman E. Miller of Spencer, son of Mrs. Emil Miller of Unity. The nuptial service was read at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, Apr. 27, in the Salem Evangelical Lutheran church at Veefkind by the Rev. G. E. Neumann.

Baskets of Stocks decorated the altar, and A. D. Wickland, accompanied by Miss Shirley Thompson, sang "Oh Promise Me" and "AT Dawning." Miss Thompson also played a prelude of soft music and the wedding marches. Mr. Wickland and Miss Thompson are members of the Loyal high school faculty.

Attendants at the double ring ceremony were Miss Virginia Smith of Loyal and Kenneth Mellenthin of Spencer, a nephew of the groom. Miss Smith was attired in a Dresden blue suit and her corsage was similar to the bride’s.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held for 50 guests in the parish hall, which was canopied with blue and white streamers interspaced with white wedding bells. A three-tiered wedding cake flanked with blue tapers centered the table. Waitresses were Mss Theone Mellenthin, a niece of the groom, and Miss LaVerne Gray, a cousin of the bride.

After a short honeymoon in northern Wisconsin, the couple is at home on route two, near Spencer. Mrs. Miller has been office secretary at the Loyal high school, and her husband, who has been in the army service for more than three years, is a farmer.

Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Neinas and Arleigh Davis of Chili, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Schlinsog and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schlinsog of Granton, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mellenthin and daughters, Theone and Janet, Mr. and Mrs. John Kurz and son, Henry, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Gray and children, Kenneth and Geraldine, and Randall Miller, all of  Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. S.
