Weix, Leonard Albert (September 28, 1927 - September 23, 2009)

 
Leonard Albert Weix, 81, Spencer, died peacefully Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen.

 
Leonard was born September 28, 1927 in Colby to Martin and Mary (Tamborino) Weix.
 
 

Leonard attended Colby’s Sand Hill Rural School. On July 16, 1949, Leonard was united in marriage to the former Norma Daufenbach. She proceeded him in death in 1995.  
 

Leonard served in the United States Air Force during WWII.  
 

He later returned to Wisconsin and was employed as a carpenter at the Boson Company until his retirement in 1994.  
 

On September 7, 1996 Leonard was united in marriage to the former Bonnie Griep at St. Bernard’s Church in Abbotsford.

 
Leonard enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, wood working, and jigsaw puzzles, he was a member of the Abbotsford American Legion.

 
Leonard is lovingly survived by his wife Bonnie, Spencer; children Judy (Richard) Berger, Spencer, Alan (Martha) Weix, Kirkland, Ill., Rose Ann (Galen) Kulas, Abbotsford, and Doreen Weix, Eau Claire; brothers and sisters Alphonse (Jean) Weix, Medford, Patricia Carpenter, Colby, Erma Kilty, Colby, Laura (Leonard) Riese, Colby, Mary Ellen (Norbert) Dittner, Marshfield, Leo (Marilyn) Weix, Abbotsford and Rita (Donald) Schnabel, Abbotsford. Leonard is further survived by eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He will truly be missed.

 
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Mary; as well as his brothers Henry Weix, Paul Weix; and sister Mary Ann Weis.

 
Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009, at Christ The King Catholic Church, Spencer. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Spencer, and one hour prior to Mass at the Church on Saturday. Parish vigil service was held at 4 p.m. on Friday at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Spencer. Burial took place in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Colby. Serving as pallbearers were his grandchildren.
