Hemmy, Arthur R. (23 Feb. 1916 - 21 Dec. 1955)  
 

COLBY -- Arthur R. Hemmy, Jr. former Colby resident, who has been making his home at Juneau the past six years, died in a Beaver Dam hospital at 9:30 o’clock Wednesday morning, of a heart attack suffered three weeks ago. He was 39 years of age.  
 

While a resident of Colby, Mr. Hemmy was employed at the Security State Bank, and also served as secretary of the Colby Chamber of Commerce and treasurer of St. Mary’s Catholic church. He left Colby to become secretary of the Midland Union Mutual Insurance Company, at Juneau, which position he held at the time of his death.  
 

He was born at Juneau Feb. 23, 1916 and was a child when his parents moved to Colby. He attended St. Mary’s school and the Colby high school, and continued his education at Stevens Point State Teachers’ College. He was married Aug. 17, 1940, at Colby, to Miss Aylce Elliott, of Spencer.  
 

He is survived by his wife, one son, Richard, 14, a daughter, Marie, 9, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hemmy, Sr., Colby; a brother, Robert, Juneau; and a sister, Mrs. Vernon Ellis, Arena.
