Amundsen, Charles O. (1 JUL 1906 - 30 MAY 1953)

 

Charles O. Amundsen, 46, a former resident of this community (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) passed away May 30th, 1953 at his home in Chicago, Oll., afer being ill but a short while.  His remains were returned to Greenwood where funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at two o’clock with Rev. Egge officiating.  Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Serving as pallbearers were former neighbors and close friends, Frank Reinhardt, Dave Jackson, Jack Hanes, John Buchanan, Emil Niemi and Rhinehart Wilkins.

 

Charles O. Amundsen was born on July 1, 1906 at Hampton, Ill.  When a youngster 10 years of age he moved to Wisconsin with his parents, settling on a farm six miles south of Owen.  Here he resided until 1935 when he moved to Chicago.

 

On March 30, 1935 he and Myrtle Poppe were united in marriage in a ceremony performed in Owen.  The couple then moved to Chicago where he was employed as a freight router with the American Railway Express Agency.

 

Surviving him are his wife, one son, Patrick, serving in the United States Navy, and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Powers, Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Amanda Buchanan and Mrs. Jean Kanes of Oak Park, Ill.
