Malmgren, Carl A. (16 NOV 1907 - 19 MAY 1953)

Friends and relatives of Arne Malmgren, businessman in the City of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) for the past 10 years, paid their final respects to him at services held at nine o’clock Friday morning from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, and later at the Riverside Cemetery.  Fr. Crubel, pastor of the parish, officiated at the church and graveside rites.  Pallbearers included Jack Gummerson, Foster Will, Ray Conzemius, Louis Novak, Frank Cieslik and Henry Mauel, Jr.

Word of his death came as a complete shock and surprise to his family and friends as it occurred at his home at 1 a.m. Tuesday morning, May 19^th, 1953, where he died instantly of a heart attack.

Carl Arnold Malmgren was born on Nov. 16, 1907 in Chicago, Ill.  He attended Beale Elementary School and Englewood High School in Chicago.  For three years, during peacetime, he served with the United States Army and after his discharge was associated for 15 years as a fireman and engineer with the Pennsylvania Railway.

On Oct. 24, 1934 he and Mary Luzovec were united in marriage in a ceremony performed in Chicago.  Later they moved to Owen where Mr. Malmgren purchased the Club Delite Bowling Alleys from Wally Kozlowski about 10 years ago.  Since coming to Owen he had always been active in community sponsorships, a great sports enthusiast and a strong advocate of constructive recreational programs for young people.

He is survived by his wife, on son, Thomas Joseph, and two brothers, Clarence and LeRoy Malmgren.
