Bundesen, Jess (30 MAY 1887 - 19 MAR 1953)

The sudden death of Mr. Jess Bundesen on March 19th, 1953 came to his friends as quite a shock.  He went to the hospital, Wednesday, March 4, on the advice of his doctor, a thorough check up revealed nothing of serious nature but he underwent surgery for hernia.  Complications in the form of cerebral hemorrhage and bronchial pneumonia followed.  He seemed to rally and talked of planting flowers, his favorite hobby, but then he had a relapse.

Jess Bundesen was born May 30, 1887 in Denmark.  While there he married Johanna Iversen.  In 1912 they came to this country, settling in Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), where they have resided for the past 42 years.  To this union three children were born, Jess Jr., a daughter, Anne and a son Hans (who preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 1928).  He worked for many years at the John S. Owen Lumber Co. and lived on a farm north of the city.  Until the day he went to the hospital he worked at the Frederick Post co.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, March 23 at 2 p.m. from the Griebenow Funeral home, with Rev. H. D. Wagner officiating.  During the service Rev. and Mrs. Wagner sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Someday the Silver Cord Will Break."  He was laid to rest at the Riverside Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Andrew Olsen, Elton Fritz, C. E. Beck, Jens Andersen, Sam Andersen and Lorraine Fritz.

Those in charge of the floral offerings were: Mesdames C. E. Beck, Elton Fritz, John Potocnik, Paul Bladl and Misses Valeria Fritz and Hulga Andersen.

He leaves to mourn, his wife, Johanna, a son, Jess, and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy, a daughter, Anne, and son-in-law, Edward Moore, 6 grandchildren, 4 sisters residing in Denmark and other relatives in Denmark and many friends.
