Phillips, Audrey (15 JAN 1946)

At 4 o’clock on Tuesday, Jan. 15, a candlelight ceremony read in the Loyal Methodist church by the Rev. Myron E. Taylor, united Miss Marilee Audrey Phillips, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Phillips, and Richard B. Giese, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard B. Giese, in holy wedlock. Bouquets of yellow and white mums and pink roses decorated the altar, before which the nuptials were read. The Rev. Orville Kleven, accompanied by Mrs. Kleven on the vibraharp and Mrs. Arnold Wickland at the piano, sang "Oh Promise Me."

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white wedding gown, designed with a molded satin bodice, sweetheart neckline and long sleeves tapered to points over the wrists. Her full skirt of net over satin, extended into a long court train. Her billowing veil of illusion was bordered in wide lace and caught to a headdress of seed pearls, and she carried a nosegay of white mums and pink carnations. The locket she wore, a gift of the groom, was a family heirloom.

Attendants were M/Sgt. and Mrs. Glenn D. Phillips of El Paso, Tex., brother and sister-in-law of the bride. Mrs. Phillips was attired in a soft blue satin formal frock, styled with long sleeves, a full gathered skirt, a basque blouse and a sweetheart neckline. Ostrich tips held her blue blusher veil, and a corsage of yellow mums was pinned to her shoulder.

The bride’s mother wore a two piece dress of navy, and the groom’s mother wore a powder blue dress. Both wore black accessories and had corsages of white and yellow mums.

Following the ceremony, covers were laid for 30 guests at supper at the Phillips home, canopied with white, pink and yellow streamers. A large all-white wedding cake, topped with an ornament of lovebirds and flanked with bowls of yellow mums, centered the table. A reception followed.

Mr. and Mrs. Giese honeymooned in the southern part of the state for 10 days. Mrs. Giese wore a fuschia-colored suit and black accessories for going away.

Mr. Giese was graduated from the Loyal high school with the class of 1938 and attended Central State Teachers college. His bride is a graduate of the Loyal high school with the class of 1945.

Guests from away were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Giese and sons of Palmyra, Robert Sweet of St. Paul, Sgt. and Mrs. G, D, Phillips of El Paso, Mr. and Mrs. Harold B. Nowak, Jr. and family, Lance Nowak and Miss Rosella Lueck of Dorchester, Mrs. Sylvester Burke and daughter of Janesville, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur E. Sweet and son of Lake View, Fla.

To the newlyweds, The Loyal Tribune extends its wishes for happiness.
