Eidsvold, Wisconsin

The cornerstone of the new United Lutheran church (Skandinavian) at this place was laid Sunday with imposing ceremonies. Rev Hoyme, president of the United Lutheran churches in the United States, Rev. John Granskau, the local pastor, and two other priests officiated. An excursion train arrived at 9:22 a.m. bringing about five hundred people from Eau Claire, Chippewa, Cadott, Boyd and Stanley. Others came from Boyd, Stanley and Thorp with teams and bicycles. It is estimated by some that the number of visitors during the day came close to the thousand mark. The local church society served food and refreshments on the grounds adjoining the church.

Horses belonging to Jas. Jordan made havoc with W. H. Bowie's corn and oats. Mr. Bowie secured two of them and shut them up. Mr. Jordan declined to pay the amount of damage demanded and the matter will probably go into court for adjustment.

Died, on July 21, Ada, youngest daughter of W. H. Vandusen and wife, aged about two years; on July 23, Gilbert, the four year old son of Geo. Ruscher and wife. Both of the little ones were interred in the Eidsvold cemetery.

Born, on Saturday, July 28, to John Miller, Jr. and wife, a daughter.

Myrtle Hadley spent last week with friends in Minneapolis.

Katie Healey and Miss Cook of Unity, are paying their aunt, Mrs. I .P. Drake a visit.

SCHOOL NOTES--Stella Baker will teach in the Dunkard district, and Verono David of Thorp, in the Miller district, town of Worden, this fall.
