Schwellenbach, Rita M. (2 AUG 1952)

Miss Rita Mary Schwellenbach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Schwellenbach, route 3, Medford, became the bride of Robert Lee Friedenfels, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Friedenfels, route 2, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), during a service performed at 8 o’clock Saturday morning in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford.  The officiating clergyman was the Rt. Rev. Msgr. G. J. Reuter.

The bride selected a gown of sheer white embroidered organdy designed with a fitted bodice cap sleeves and tiny self-covered buttons closing down the front.  The full skirt fell into a long train and her embroidered organdy gauntlets matched her gown.  A veil of pure silk imported French illusion net, edged with a double row of lace, extended from her headdress and she carried a white lace covered prayer book topped by a single white orchid surround by puffs of blue carnations and blue streamers.

Miss Dorothy Babak, Sturtevant, as maid of honor, was attired in a floor length frock of white organdy over a light blue eyelet organdy slip designed with cap sleeves and a Peter Pan collar.  She carried a nosegay of blue carnations.  Her headdress was also made of white nylon.

The two bridesmaids, Miss Josephine Gasior, Sheldon, and Miss Daisy Friedenfels, Minneapolis, a sister of the groom, wore frocks identical to the maid of honor’s.

Vernon Kowalewski, Owen, was best man, and two brothers of the groom, Richard and Frank Friedenfels, Owen, were groomsmen.

Ushers were Kathryn Tlusty and Miss Caroline Griesbach, Medford, who wore gray suits and headdresses of blue carnations.

Barbara Schmeiser, Medford, as flower girl, who wore a blue formal and a headpiece like the other attendants, carried a basket of blue and white flowers.  Raymond Schmeiser, Medford, was ring bearers.

Both of the mothers of the newlyweds wore navy blue frocks and had corsages of American Beauty roses.

A breakfast was served at 10 a.m. at the home of the bride’s parents where the couple also greeted guests at a reception beginning at 2:30 p.m.

The bride, a graduate of the Greenwood High School and the Taylor County Normal School at Medford will teach at the Hoard Center School in Clark County this year.  Her husband, who received his education at the Redville School operates a farm on route 2, Owen, where they will reside.

They are now on a wedding trip to the Dakotas.
