Karsten, Bertha (3 Mar. 1882 - 13 June 1952)  
 

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Karsten, 70, who died Friday, were held Monday afternoon at 1:00 o’clock at Christ Lutheran church with the Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiating. Burial was made in the Green Grove cemetery.  
 

Pallbearers were Ernie Boss, Harold and Glenn Horn, La Vern Karsten, Charles Stout, and Adolph Wessel. 
 

The flowers were carried by Mrs. William Koffarnus, Mrs. Gilbert Grambort, Mrs. Milton Meske, Mrs. Eugene Steinke, Mrs. Herbert Myus, Mrs. Donald Armstrong, and Miss Jerry Bowen. 
 

Mrs. Karsten was born Bertha Horn, March 3, 1882, at Greenwood. She was married there to Christ Karsten on May 10, 1902. They made their home on a farm near Curtiss until 1940, when they moved to Abbotsford, Wis. Mr. Karsten died June 2, 1941.  
 

Mrs. Karsten went to visit her daughter, Mrs. Franklin Kraut, at Curtiss, last Thursday morning. She became ill that afternoon and on Friday morning died of coronary thrombosis on the way to St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield. 
 

She is survived by her two sons, Alfred, of Abbotsford, Harry of Curtiss; and a daughter, Elsie, Mrs. Franklin Kraut, Curtiss. Also surviving are seven grand children and six great grand children and two brothers, William Horn, Greenwood; Frank Horn, Tacoma, Wash.; and a sister, Miss Martha Horn, Greenwood. Three brothers preceded her in death. 
 

Her aged mother, Mrs. Louisa Horn, 97, died last Jan. 22.
