Ackerman, Fred W. (22 November 1866 - 14 June 1952)

Fred Ackerman of Pine Valley died at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ackerman, on Saturday, June 14, at midnight, after an illness of the past one and one half years.  The body lay in state at the Georgas Funeral Home until time of services on Wednesday.

Funeral services were conducted at two o’clock from the Congregational Church, of which he was a charter member. Rev. R. Banks Blocher officiating.  Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Ackerman was born to Charles and Mary E. (Condit) Ackerman on November 22, 1866, on the same farm where he died.  His parents came to Clark County in a covered wagon from Dodge County and took up a homestead on the present Ackerman farm, now operated by Arthur Ackerman.  His parents built log buildings and Fred managed the farm after his parents death.  On January 1, 1903, he was married to Pauline Marth at Neillsville.

Four children were born to this union, two of whom survive, a son, Arthur and a daughter, Irma, Mrs. William Sollberger of the Columbia area.
