Horn, Adel O. (25 November 1923 - 15 June 2009)

 

Adel O. Horn 85, of Greenwood, Wisconsin died Monday, June 15, 2009, at her home.

 

Adel O. Johnson was born Nov. 25, 1923, in the Town of Longwood, rural Owen, the daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth (Jacobson) Johnson.  She was raised on the family farm and received her education at South Bright country school and graduated from Owen High School in 1941.  After school, Adel moved to Waukesha, where she worked as a secretary for one year.  She returned home and was united in marriage to Dale William Herbert Horn July 14, 1945, at Zion United Church of Christ in Greenwood. Adel was a homemaker and a farm wife.  She and her husband farmed in the Town of Eaton for many years.  Dale died June 14, 2002.  She continued to reside on the farm until her death.

 

Adel had many interests but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cake decorating, crocheting, knitting, camping, traveling, square dancing, playing cards and recently, surfing the Internet.

 

She will be dearly missed by her children, Amanda (Richard) Marco of Onalaska, Bonnie Schielzeth (Dennis Basthemer) of Stoughton, Randy Horn of Greenwood, Myra (Ned) Johnson of Monfort, Wanda (Michael) Nusberger of Wheeler and Delmond Horn of Greenwood; 15 grandchildren, Leann (Robert) Myer, Greg (Dana) Marco, Jeff (Jennifer) Marco, Joel Schielzeth, Aleena Schielzeth, Carrie Horn, Kristy (Rodney) Steines, Liza (Robert) Godard, Joshua Johnson, Caleb Johnson (Bethany Hawes), Alicia Johnson, Kimberly Nusberger (Scott Olson), Nicole Nusberger and Brian Nusberger; 13 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Benjamin, Dominic, Jordan, James, Tiana, Tasha, Isabella, Nicholas, Alana, Hunter, Derek and Alexis; one sister, Ruth Hingiss of Waukesha; one sister-in-law, Romelle Johnson of Aitkin, MN; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; three grandchildren, Erik, Penny and Jason; one great-grandson, Jonathon; four brothers, Erland, Arnold, Isaac and Carl Johnson; and four sisters, Jean Von Guten, Mildred Rotiek, Selma Banks and Martha Schneider.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. Michael Kennedy will officiate and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood Thursday, June 18, 2009, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at 10 a.m. until the time of services on Friday.

 

Pallbearers will be Randy Horn, Delmond Horn, Joel Schielzeth, Greg Marco, Joshua Johnson and Brian Nusberger.

 

The Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood is assisting the family with arrangements.
