Kotila, Kari H. (20 NOV 1872 - 23 NOV 1951)

 

Final rites were held at 1:30 on Nov. 26 in the Perala Funeral Home, Rev. Herman Matero, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating, for Kari Henry Kotila, who passed away Nov. 23, 1951, in his home, East Clark St. at Negaunee, Mich.

 

Mr. Kotila, who was born Nov. 20, 1872, in Kivijarvi, Jaani, Finland, was 79 years old at the time of his death.  He moved to Negaunee 63 years ago and for several years was engaged in business, retiring a number of years ago.

 

Surviving his death are Mrs. George Preston and Mrs. John Peel of Negaunee; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Wakkila, Ravenna, Ohio, and Mrs. Alma Oikari, who lives in Finland, and a grandson, Don Preston, who is serving with the Army in Japan.

 

Pallbearers were George Roos, George Pekkarinen, Hugo Pekkarinen, Charles Partanen, John Koski and Henry Pekkala, Burial was made in the Negaunee Cemetery.

 

Mr. Kotila and daughter, Mrs. John Peel, visited Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) several times and had many friends in this city.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Hans Kolpanen of Milwaukee, Wis. attended the funeral.
