Loewe, John (? - 2 DEC 1909)

Last Thursday John Loewe, an old gentleman living northwest of Dells Dam (Clark Co., Wis.) was found dead in his home by neighbors.  Mr. Loewe lives alone and as he has been in poor health for some time the neighbors anticipated that death would overtake him suddenly and looked after him to a certain extent.  Thursday Roy Iverson and Arthur Starret passed the house and hearing the cattle lowing in the barn and not seeing Loewe around they made an investigation.  The stock in the barn showed all evidence of not having had care for some days, and when the boys went to the house they looked in at the kitchen window.  They could see through the kitchen into the bedroom and there they could see Loewe’s body extending into their range of vision.  The boys notified John Iverson, Chairman of the town of Dewhurst, and a party of the neighbors then went to the Loewe house and broke in.  The old gentleman was found lying on the floor of his bedroom, and it was evident that he had been dead two or three days.  A coroner’s inquest was conducted by Justice W. A. Campman and the verdict returned was death from heart disease, as there were no evidences of violence.  The funeral was held Saturday.

Mr. Loewe is survived by two sons and two daughters, John Loewe and Mrs. Anna Lutzau of Hammond, Ind., and Wm. Loewe and Mrs. Frietag of Chicago.  The sons ere here to attend the wedding.
