Thompson, Mildred June (Marriage - 13 Aug. 1949)

Miss Mildred June Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thompson, Curtiss, became the bride of Douglas Gordon Graham, Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Evangelical Lutheran church, Curtiss. R. C. Graham, Owen, is the groom’s father.

Officiating at the double ring ceremony, in which the bride was given in marriage by her father, was the Rev. W. L. Anderson, of Rosholt.

Miss Dorothy Thompson, Curtiss, was her sister’s maid of honor. Miss Betty Linderud, Stoughton, was the bridesmaid for her friend. Flower girls were Jo Anne and Jane Ellen Kramer, Belleville, twin cousins of the bride.

Peter McMillan, Owen, was best man. The groom’s other attendant was Glen Parkenson, Owen. Ushers were John Cattanach, Owen; and Ralph Peterson, Curtiss, cousin of the bride.

For the 2:30 ceremony the bride wore a sheer white organdy gown of colonial style. The fitted bodice was designed with a round neckline with insets of lace. Lace also was set in the three-tiered full skirt which ended in a short train. Her Juliet cap of seed pearls held a fingertip veil of illusion and she carried a crescent bouquet of pink and white roses.

Miss Thompson was dressed in a white organdy gown over pink taffeta, made similar to that of the bride. Her crescent bouquet was of pink mums. Miss Linderud was gowned identical to the bride, but in ice green. Completing her costume were matching mitts and a bonnet. She carried a bouquet of green mums. White organdy over yellow was worn by the flower girls and they carried a basket of mixed flowers.

Immediately following the wedding a reception was held in the parish hall.

Both young people graduated from Owen high school with the class of 1945, and the bride was graduated from the University of Wisconsin in the field of home economics. Mr. Graham will be a senior at Central State Teachers’ College, Stevens Point. He is affiliated with Sigma Zeta and Mrs. Graham with Phi Upsilon Omicron. She will teach home economics in the Lincoln high school at Wisconsin Rapids. Mr. Graham served for a year and a half in the army.

When they return from a northern Wisconsin honeymoon the couple will live in Wisconsin Rapids.

Out of town guests at the wedding were: Mrs. Lars Larson, Martin and the Misses Emma and Mabel Larson, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. H. Matthias and children, Rae Ann and Harold Lee, Ashland; the Rev. W. L. Anderson and daughters, Irene, Yvonne, and Gerda, Rosholt; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Peterson, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Larson, Joel and Merry Lee, Weyauwega; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kramer and daughters, Jo Ann and Jane, Belleville; Misses Alma and Minnie Thompson, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. C.
