Koerner, Betty Jean (Marriage - 9 July 1949)

Miss Betty Jean Koerner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar C. Koerner, of Dorchester, became the bride of Carl Robert Bloom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bloom, Dorchester, Saturday afternoon, July 9. The ceremony was performed at 2:30 at the parsonage of the Evangelical and Reformed church, Colby, in the presence of the immediate families, with the Rev. Franz Puhlman as officiating minister.

The bride wore a gown of white satin design with long, tapered sleeves, self trim buttons down the back and a long train. Seed pearls trimmed the neck and also the head piece which held her finger tip veil. She carried a bouquet of tea roses and gladioli.

Miss Evelyn Uhlig, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor and Miss Janet Uhlig was the bridesmaid. They wore Dutch bonnets to match their frocks of Nile green and orchid taffeta made with a hoop skirt. Rhinestone necklaces and bracelets, gifts from the bride, and colonial bouquets of carnations and sweet peas, completed their ensembles.

Herbert Bloom, brother of the groom, and Donald Koerner, brother of the bride, attended the groom.

A wedding reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, and supper was served to about 125 relatives and friends. White, green and orchid streamers and cut flowers were used to decorate the home.

In the evening a wedding dance was held at Curtiss hall, after which the young couple left for a few days at Long Lake.

Mr. and Mrs. Bloom are making their home, for the present, at the home of the bride’s parents.

The bride is a graduate of the Abbotsford high school, class of 1947. The groom was graduated from Owen high school, class of 1944. He attended River Falls Teachers’ College and is now employed by the Hoffman Silo Co., Abbotsford, Wis.

Guests from Milwaukee, Madison, Lake Geneva, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids, Milladore, Alden, Ill.; Watertown, Owen, Curtiss, Edgar, Dorchester and Abbotsford attended the wedding reception.
