Schmidt, Evelyn (22 SEP 1953)

Asters and gladiolas decorated the altar of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thorp for the wedding of Evelyn Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Schmidt and Anthony Kotecki, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kotecki, both of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

Rev. A. A. Muckerheide performed the double ring ceremony at 9:00 High Mass on Sept. 22nd, 1953.

The bride was escorted down the white carpeted aisle by her father who gave her in marriage. Her chapel length gown of lace and satin was styled with a lace over satin bodice, long sleeves pointed at the wrist and a Queen Anne collar. A full double nylon skirt with lace inserts in front and lace inserts in her long train. A satin and net half hat with pearl beading trim held her hand rolled fingertip veil in place.

She carried a white lace over satin Missal topped with a purple lipped orchid held in place with satin streamers.

A single strand of pearls, a gift of the groom, was the bride’s only jewelry.

As the choir sang "On This Day, Oh Beautiful Mother," the bride place a bouquet of white carnations at the altar of the Blessed Virgin.

Mrs. Jean C. Broeren, matron of honor, wore a Nile green nylon net over taffeta gown styled with a three tier skirt with lace over taffeta strapless bodice and lace jacket with mandarin neckline. She wore a matching velvet petal hat with nose veil.
