Szpara, Clara (15 AUG 1953)

On Saturday morning, Aug. 15th, 1953 at ten o’clock mass, Miss Clara Szpara became the bride of Lee Jazdzewski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Jazdzewski, in a double ring ceremony performed by the Rev. John J. Klek, C.R., at St. Stanislaus Bishop and Marty Church in Chicago. The altar was beautifully decorated with red roses and white lilies.

The bridal party entered the church down the center aisle which was laid with a white rug.

The bride was given away by her brother-in-law, ted Stefan. She was attired in a gown of imported Chantilly lace with insertions of nylon tulle in the skirt. Her fingertip veil fell gracefully from a sequined and bead crown. She carried a bouquet of white roses and stephanotis centered with two orchids. She also carried a crystal rosary, a gift of the groom. In the solemn part of the ceremony she carried a bouquet of white gladioli to the altar of the Blessed Virgin.

Her bridesmaids, Emily Carroll, sister of the bride, and Rose Pichla, cousin of the groom, wore gowns of cotillion blue nylon tulle with matching boleros. They wore matching floral hats and carried yellow roses. The maid of honor, Irene Pichla, cousin of the groom, was dressed identically to the bridesmaids but carried pink roses. They all wore gold pendants, a gift of the bride. The flower girl, Barbara, Zaborowski, niece of the bride, wore a yellow nylon tulle gown with a matching bonnet. She carried pink roses and wore a gold locket, a gift of the bride.

The groom chose as his attendants, his brother Lawrence and Walter Szpara, brother of the bride. They all wore dark trousers and white dinner jackets. The groom had a white roses boutonniere and his attendants maroon carnations.

The groom’s mother was dressed in blue with white accessories and wore a corsage of red roses.

After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served to the immediate family at the home of the bride’s sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stefan.

In the evening a reception was held at the Jolyy Club, where a dinner was served to about one hundred and fifty guests. Music and dancing followed throughout the evening.

After a honeymoon to the Ozarks the young couple will make their home in Chicago.

Out of town guests attending were Cpl. Lawrence Jazdzewski of Santa Ana, Calif.; Mrs. Ed Zaborowski and daughter of Thorp, Wis.; and Miss Lorraine Tomkowiak, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
