Sopiarz, Mary #2 (15 AUG 1884 - 1 SEP 1953)

Last rites were conducted by Rev. Francis Piekarski and Rev. Heber Zoromski at St. Hedwig’s Church Friday morning at 10:00 o’clock for Mrs. Joseph Sopiarz, 69, who passed away at the Stanley Hospital on Sept. 1st of an apoplectic stroke.

The deceased was born in Poland on Aug. 15, 1884. She came to America in 1903 and on Feb. 3, 1907 was united in marriage to Joseph Sopiarz in Chicago. Five years after her marriage she moved to St. Paul with her husband and family and in 1919 they came to Thorp where she has since resided on a farm.

Besides her husband she is survived by six sons, Joseph, Leon and Walter of Chicago, Edward of Madison, Frank of Milwaukee and John of Thorp; five daughters, Mathilda, Mrs. Felix Zukowski of Gilman, Elizabeth, Mrs. Anton Maslowski, and Valeria, Mrs. Ted Lupinski of Thorp, Helen, Mrs. Quentin McHeffey, Chicago, Dolores, Mrs. Donovan Jensen of Kenosha; three brothers, Edward Biel, St. Paul, Walter Biel, San Francisco, and Zigmont in Poland, and 19 grandchildren. One son, Albin, 20, died in 1939.

Interment took place in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Jos. Hmielak, Jos. Kobylarczyk, John Rogalski, Anton Lesniewski, Edward Przybylski and John Maslowski.

Out of town relatives and friends here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Jos. Sopiarz Friday were Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Sopiarz, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sopiarz, Mr. and Mrs. Quentin McHeffey, Leo Sopiarz, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sopiarz, , Jerome Baldwin, Milton Sopiarz, Jos. Bylina and sons Thomas and Edward, Ann Gronski, Mrs. Edward Siemech, Mrs. Stanley Chmielewski, Walter Piekarski, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Piekarski, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Koscinski, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Schroeder, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sopiarz and children of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Donovan Jensen of Kenosha; Mrs. Andrew Knga and Mrs. Mike Garb, Lemont, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kapela and son, Gary, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Biel and Mr. and Mrs. Mario Carbone of St. Paul, Minn.
